Doctors at Saratov City Hospital No. 6 are preparing for a massive influx of patients after tick bites. This was reported in the TG channel of the medical institution.
Doctors traditionally record the largest number of calls on this matter in May. However, already in April, in just one week, four people came to the emergency room who discovered ticks on their bodies.
Doctors ask citizens to cover their heads and other parts of the body with clothes when walking in nature, wear high closed shoes, and not lie on the grass.
“There is no need to worry about encephalitis ticks – there are none in our region. There are common forest ticks, but their bite can also cause serious inflammation.”– noted in the 6th city hospital.
If you notice a tick on your body, but there is no way to go to a medical facility, grab it with tweezers as close to the proboscis as possible, then carefully pull it up, rotating it around its axis. Usually, after 1–3 turns, the entire tick is removed along with the proboscis. You cannot pull out a tick.
You can also remove it with a thread: a strong thread is tied into a knot closer to the proboscis, then it is removed, slowly swaying to the sides and pulling up without sudden movements.
When you don’t have tweezers and thread at hand, you should grab the tick with your fingers as close to the skin as possible. Pull the tick slightly and rotate it around its axis. After which the wound must be treated with an antiseptic.
If, when removing the tick, its head comes off, which looks like a black dot, wipe this place with cotton wool soaked in alcohol, and then remove the head with a sterile needle, like an ordinary splinter.
