In Tula, police found suspects of fraud when issuing a birth certificate. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region.

Investigators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are investigating a criminal case under the article “Fraud in receiving payments.”

To obtain a birth certificate for a birth outside a medical organization, a person present at the birth must submit an application.

As it was established, a 28-year-old Tula resident invited several women to issue birth certificates for children who were not born in order to receive payments. From December 21, 2021 to September 14, 2023, 10 women received documents for fictitious children. After which they applied to the registry office to process payments within the framework of the national project “Demography”. In total, they stole 1 million 260 thousand 959 rubles.

Currently, three accused are in custody, and two women are under house arrest. Police are looking for 5 more female suspects.

Investigators believe that the suspects, using forged documents, applied to the MFC to receive maternity capital and cashed them out. They face up to 4 years in prison.
