The police found a pawnshop to which the attacker had handed over the stolen property using his passport.

A local resident born in 1985 turned to the duty station of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Privolzhsky district for help, who reported the loss of a cell phone worth about 11.5 thousand rubles.
Police officers interviewed the applicant and found out that the woman discovered the phone was missing after visiting one of the rural stores. Independent searches were unsuccessful and a local resident turned to the police for help, providing documents for the lost property.
After checking the data on the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs databases containing information from thrift stores, criminal investigation officers learned that a cell phone similar in description to the stolen one had been handed over to one of the pawn shops in Chapaevsk.
Having gone on a work trip, the detectives interviewed an employee of the organization, who provided the passport data of the client who handed over the phone and its characteristics recorded in the accounting book.
Police officers detained a 21-year-old Samara resident at his place of residence and took him to the nearest police department for further investigation.
During the interview, a previously unconvicted young man admitted guilt in committing an unlawful act and explained to the police that, while waiting for an electric train, he went into a store located next to the railway station, where he saw a cell phone in a grocery basket standing at the exit. Having made sure that no one was watching his actions, he took the find, on the way to the station, pulled out the SIM card from the phone and threw it away. At one of the subsequent electric train stations, he handed over the stolen goods to a pawnshop and spent the proceeds for personal needs.
Currently, the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Privolzhsky District has charged the detainee with committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”. A criminal case with an indictment against a resident of Samara has been sent to court to make a decision on the merits.
