A business accelerator for young scientists has been opened in the city. One of the authors was “Boiling Point Omsk”.
An acceleration program for growing startups called “-0+500” has opened in Omsk. Siberia”. It will allow Omsk innovators to find a team of like-minded people and create their own technology business. The large-scale project is being implemented by the Siberian State Automobile and Highway University and Boiling Point Omsk, on the basis of which an ecosystem to support entrepreneurial and innovative activities has been formed since 2020.
As the head of the acceleration program said: Polina Kharlamova, all conditions have been created for startups “-0+500.Siberia”. In addition to the Boiling Point itself, there is a center for technological entrepreneurship, which helps to grow projects and attract resources to them, as well as for further development, entering the market, and receiving investments – the Springboard venture fund and the regional representative of the Skolkovo Foundation.
From April to November, innovators will work on their startups for various sectors of the economy. In this they will be supported by industrial partners – various industrial enterprises. At the grand opening of the program, they prepared a list of developments that they needed. For this purpose, enterprises are ready not only to provide startups with their production sites, but also to finance the introduction of an innovative product to the market.
For example, inventor of the USSR, teacher of the information security department of SibADI Anatoly Pankov submitted a request from JSC Omsk Research Institute of Instrument Engineering – fuzzing. This is a method for finding vulnerabilities in artificial intelligence software. Development of solutions to this problem will bring $1 billion to the Omsk region.
General Director of Insist Automation Maxim Polizhaevsky presented to accelerator participants three areas for development – a leak detection system for main and field pipelines, a PTB-10 oil heating furnace operator simulator and a cross-platform application with a modular concept “SCADA system”. He said that the company is completely open to cooperation with startups and is ready to offer not only expert advice, but also project support at all stages, its promotion, and provision of platforms for implementation.
Participants will receive an educational program and a presentation of the project in front of an expert jury. In November, “-0+500.Siberia” will host a presentation of projects to investors, partners, venture companies and funds. The best of the developments will be able to qualify for financial support for the further development and implementation of their ideas.
