The Traktorozavodsky District Court of Chelyabinsk granted the investigation’s request to arrest a new defendant in a criminal case on corruption in the execution of government contracts under the national project “Safe and High-Quality Highways,” reports a correspondent of the Access News Agency.
Let us remind you that we are talking about Alexander Sviridov, detained by FSB officers, whom sources call a negotiator between road workers and government agencies.
His defense petitioned for a preventive measure in the form of house arrest or bail in the amount of 2 million rubles. The court sent Sviridov to a pre-trial detention center until June 23.
The investigation believes that the man was an intermediary between officials and contractors under the BKD national project, who had previously been detained on charges of corruption schemes.
In December 2023, the head of a contracting organization in the field of road repair and maintenance, Uraldorstroy LLC, Nver Kolozyan, was detained. Also arrested were his son and a number of officials from the organizations that controlled the execution of the contracts – OGKU Chelyabinskavtodor and the South Ural Center for Road Tests and Research.
Cases have been initiated against the defendants under parts 3, 6 of Article 290, parts 2.5 of Article 291, part 2 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving vyatka and giving a bribe, mediation in bribery, respectively).
According to the investigation, a specialist from the technical supervision department of road construction works of the Chelyabinsk Avtodor received a bribe in the form of 600 tons of asphalt worth over 2.9 million rubles for systematically informing road workers about possible inspections and accepting poor-quality work.
In total, the organization carried out 124 state and municipal contracts worth more than 5.9 billion rubles.
