Vologda is preparing for the International Wooden Construction Forum

In July, the regional capital will host the III International Forum of Wooden Construction WOODINARCH 2024 and the V Russian competition with international participation “Wood in Architecture”. Acting Governor of the region Georgy Filimonov announced this in his Telegram channel.

“I would like to note that for the first time the Forum will not be held in Moscow. Guests from China, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and a number of BRICS countries will come to it,” noted Georgy Filimonov. – The exhibition site of the Forum will be our Vologda Kremlin Square. There will also be exhibitions of projects for the implementation of public spaces in the region and a review competition with work completed over the past three years – only from wood, as well as from wood in combination with other construction and finishing materials.”

The Forum is planned to:

• business program with events, the topic of which reveals the problems and prospects of wooden house construction;
• master classes; panel discussions;
• entertainment programs;
• excursions to the objects of wooden architecture of Vologda, the Semenkovo ​​museum and production sites;
• construction of a wooden chapel on the site of the lost Spaso-Vsegradsky Cathedral on Revolution Square.

“We discussed preparations for the Forum with the President of the Union of Architects of Russia Nikolai Shumakov and acting. Mayor of Vologda Andrey Nakroshaev, said Georgy Filimonov. – We also touched upon the topic of popularizing modern architectural solutions made using wooden structures, and issues of increasing the level of education in the use of this material. I will add that the regional capital will soon undergo large-scale transformations: reconstruction of the embankment, Revolution Square and other iconic objects. The Union of Architects will support us in this.”
