The United States claims that Russia is creating a satellite capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, RT reports, citing a statement by White House spokesman Jake Sullivan.
“The United States believes that Russia is developing a satellite capable of carrying a nuclear device,” states a statement from an American official published by the US administration press service.
Sullivan believes that this supposedly explains Russia’s decision to veto a draft resolution proposed by the United States and Japan on the non-placement of nuclear weapons in space.
Earlier, the UN Security Council rejected an amendment by Russia and China to an American and Japanese draft resolution calling for prompt measures to prevent the deployment of weapons in space and threats to use force in outer space.
