At the age of 101, Alexey Fedorovich Apalkov, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, died in Voronezh.
As the press service of the mayor’s office reported, the head of the city, Vadim Kstenin, expressed his condolences to his family and friends.
“A member of the famous Voronezh volunteer communist regiment, he defended Voronezh, despite being wounded, and went through the thick of Stalingrad and the Kursk Bulge,” said the mayor.
According to him, the veteran’s military awards: Order of the Patriotic War, 1st degree, medals “For the Capture of Budapest,” two medals “For Courage,” “For Victory over Germany,” and “For the Capture of Vienna” speak of how brave, selfless and loving Alexey Fedorovich was the man of his homeland.
“I express my sincere condolences to his family and friends,” wrote Vadim Kstenin.
