The “St. George’s Ribbon” campaign has started in the Tver region

On April 24, in the Tver region, as well as throughout the country, the All-Russian action “St. George’s Ribbon” was launched. It is held annually in the Russian Federation on the eve of Victory Day.

Yesterday in Tver, at the military memorial “Smolensk Fraternal Burial”, an event was held in honor of the start of the action, in which representatives of public associations, authorities, the “First Movement”, schoolchildren, students, youth members, cadets of the Higher Military District of the East Kazakhstan region named after. Zhukova and residents of the region.

The St. George Ribbon campaign started in 2005. Its main slogan is “St. George’s Ribbon. I remember! I’m proud”.

“There is no need to say how important this action is. Today, a large number of young people, schoolchildren, cadets, academy students, military personnel, and city residents are present at the opening. And for me, the St. George’s Ribbon is a symbol of honor, valor and glory of our army, which defended the honor and dignity of our Russia on the battlefields,” – noted the chairman of the Tver city public organization of veterans (pensioners) of war, labor, armed forces and law enforcement agencies, Honorary Citizen of the city of Tver, Major General of Aviation Genrikh Levkovich.

In the Tver region, the action will last until May 9 and will cover all municipalities. “Victory Volunteers”, activists of youth associations, students and schoolchildren will distribute St. George’s ribbons at patriotic rallies, ceremonial processions and simply on city streets, telling fellow countrymen about the history of this symbol and the rules for wearing it.

In total, about 1,500 volunteers in the region will distribute more than 70 thousand St. George ribbons, the press service of the Tver region government clarifies.
