In Rostov they plan to create several sites for waste storage

Perhaps the city will begin to clean up household waste more quickly

In Rostov, it is necessary to create at least four temporary storage points for municipal solid waste (MSW), said Dmitry Shevtsov, deputy director of the city’s housing and communal services department. According to him, the emergence of such sites will make it possible to more quickly remove garbage from the streets of Rostov.

For now, all collected waste from container sites is transported to the territory of Myasnikovsky MEOK, which is located 50 kilometers from Rostov. And, as a result, during the day, garbage truck drivers can only make so many trips from Rostov to the Myasnikovsky district – a lot of time is spent not only covering a distance of almost a hundred kilometers in both directions, but also sitting idle in traffic jams.

According to Shevtsov, the creation of four sites for temporary waste storage can correct this situation.

— Throughout the day, garbage trucks will transport solid waste to these sites. And at night, when the roads are cleared of traffic, waste will be transported to Myasnikovsky MEOC. It seems to me that this logistics will work,” Shevtsov said.

On January 1, 2019, the Rostov region switched to a new municipal solid waste (MSW) management system, and in 2021, three MEOCs were launched in the region – Volgodonsk, Myasnikovsky and Neklinovsky. The authorities plan to build two more in the Krasnosulinsky district and near Novocherkassk.

As donnews.ru previously wrote, residents of Gukovo, Krasny Sulin, Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Shakhty, Novoshakhtinsk, Krasnosulinsky and Belokalitvinsky districts most often complain about untimely removal of garbage from container sites, as well as the mountains of solid waste next to them.

Meanwhile, in the Rostov region, the shortage of containers for waste collection is 30 thousand pieces. Thus, with an estimated need of 65 thousand containers in the region, only 35 thousand have been installed at 15 thousand container sites. At the same time, more than 5,000 sites, or 35% of their total number, need to be put in order – concreted and fencing installed.
