The level of boxing in our time has risen to the level of science, since this area has a long history.

In the Chechen Republic, boxing is developing at an active pace. More and more boxing champions represent the republic. One of these is Bakhram Murtazaliev, who recently won the IBF title.

In a conversation with a Chechnya Segodnya news agency correspondent, Bakhram spoke about his path to the championship. The athlete is 31 years old; he started boxing back in 2003.

“There were many difficulties, many trials, but when a person trusts in the Almighty and creates a reason, then He makes his path easier. There was a time when I wanted to give up and go astray, but I always remembered why I started everything, and this gave me the strength to emerge victorious in this struggle, on this path,” says Bahram.

On April 6 of this year, a boxing evening took place in Falkensee, Germany, where the main event was the fight between Bahram Murtazaliev and German Jack Culcay. It was a fight for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) world champion title in the junior middleweight (up to 69.9 kg). The fight consisted of 12 rounds and ended with the victory of the Chechen boxer by technical knockout in the 11th round.

Bakhram Murtazaliev fought for the world title for the first time. According to him, the victory was not something special for him.

“In fact, the sensations are ordinary; for me there was nothing special about it. It was an ordinary day, an ordinary victory, and we move on, only forward,” says Bahram.

Answering the question of what is more important – discipline or motivation – the athlete chose discipline.

“For me, discipline is more important. You cannot achieve great heights with pure motivation alone. Discipline gives birth to talent, as it is the key to everything, in any job,” the interlocutor noted.

Speaking about boxing legends, Bahram admitted that for him the best boxer is Mohammed Ali.

“Ali knew how to show competent, spectacular, beautiful boxing, his fights were the standard of boxing. Speaking about Mike Tyson, he knew how to show his aggression through beautiful technique, but Ali’s fights and technique were much better,” says the champion.

Bahram Murtazaliev also noted that Chechen boxing has enormous potential and there are quite a lot of promising boxers in the region.

“In my opinion, we have many boxers who can win Olympic medals, World and European Championship medals. We have athletes who will be able to enter the professional ring and show boxing,” the champion believes.

Concluding the conversation, the athlete wished the young boxers not to give up on their path, to believe in themselves and their abilities.

“The most important thing is to work hard, it pays off in the end. You can’t listen to people who tell you that you won’t succeed. You must do everything that depends on you, the rest, by the will of fate, will already come to you,” concluded Bakhram Murtazaliev.

It is worth noting that the General Director of RSC “AKHMAT”, President of the Boxing Federation of the Chechen Republic Eli Kadyrov met the day before with Bakhram Murtaziliev and gave him a cash prize from the Regional Public Fund named after. A.A. Kadyrov. Eli Kadyrov wished the athlete even greater achievements in sports and winning the most prestigious championship belts in professional boxing.
