Now they face criminal liability.

The Investigative Committee for the Tver Region opened a criminal case based on materials provided by the regional Directorate of the FSB of Russia about a deliberately false denunciation of an act of terrorism. Two men and a woman, who are employees of an organization that ensures security on transport infrastructure, are suspected of involvement.

According to investigators, the trio made three dummies of improvised explosive devices and placed them on November 17, 2023 in Tver under the supports of two road bridges across the Tvertsa River. After that, they called emergency services and reported that a terrorist attack was being prepared in the city.

With the interaction of employees of the Investigative Committee, the FSB Directorate and the Russian National Guard, two men were detained in accordance with the procedure established by law, and charges were brought against them. Searches were carried out in the homes of the defendants, objects and documents relevant to the investigation were confiscated. During the incriminated period, the woman was not on the territory of the Russian Federation; she was charged in absentia and put on the international wanted list.

The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention against the accused. A similar preventive measure was taken against the woman in absentia.
