The start of the action was given on Victory Square, where students from Ryazan colleges gathered.
“Today, for the first time in all the years, there are no participants in the Great Patriotic War with us, but we still have the opportunity to communicate with them and learn first-hand about the history of the Great Patriotic War and the exploits of our heroes,” said Vitaly Kosachev, chairman of the Youth Affairs Committee.
Young people who came to the action were told about the status and significance of the St. George’s Ribbon.
– This symbol reminds us of unity, honor, respect for the defenders of the Motherland. It is these values that we must carefully preserve and pass on from generation to generation. We must remind you that the St. George Ribbon is a symbol of victory in the Great Patriotic War. Along with the ribbons, we will distribute leaflets in which the history of the St. George’s Ribbon is written. Since last year, the St. George Ribbon has been under protection and people will face administrative punishment for its desecration. We must treat the symbol of Victory with care,” said Valeria Zmeikova, head of the regional branch of the All-Russian public movement “Volunteers of Victory”.
From May 2 to May 8, the symbol of the Great Victory can be obtained in Ryazan in six places: at the arch of Cathedral Boulevard, at the Lenin monument on the square of the same name, at the memorial on Victory Square, on Teatralnaya Square, in the 60th Anniversary of the Victory Square (on Moskovskoye Highway in front of the building Registry Office) and in the Alexandrov Park on Soviet Army Street, and on May 9 also in Victory Park.
During the event, it is planned to distribute over 100 thousand ribbons.
