A bill to restrict the sale of alcohol was adopted in the Nizhny Novgorod region

Nizhny Novgorod. 25th of April. NTA-Volga region – On April 25, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region adopted in the second reading amendments to the law “On the regulation of certain legal relations in the field of production and circulation of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic and alcohol-containing products in the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region.”

Now the sale of beer and beer drinks, as well as cider, poire, and mead will be allowed only in restaurants, bars, cafes and buffets, including those located in the MKD and in the surrounding areas.

Also, the retail sales of alcohol in establishments located in the MKD and adjacent areas will be limited from 11 pm to 9 am. However, the change will not affect restaurants.

As the press service of the Legislative Assembly reported, each municipality will have the right to independently establish the boundaries of the territories adjacent to the apartment buildings where alcohol cannot be sold. If the municipality does not make changes, then the general rules for the sale of alcohol in catering facilities located at a distance of less than 35 meters from the apartment building, and in the houses themselves.

It is noted that the restriction will not apply in catering establishments that have passed the mandatory classification of city hotels and hotels, as well as in areas of high tourist attractiveness. The updated law will come into force in May 2024.

At the same time, the requirement to sell alcohol only in restaurants, bars, cafes and buffets, including those located in apartment buildings and in adjacent areas, will come into force on September 1, 2024.

According to the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Evgeny Lyulin, after a long work with the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the regions were given the opportunity to restore order in the work of the bottling stations.

“Practice will show that further adjustments may be required both at the regional and federal levels. This means that we will come up with new initiatives. In addition, the regional parliament is currently working on draft amendments to the Code of the Nizhny Novgorod Region on Administrative Offenses for violations of restrictions on the sale of alcohol fines will be established in catering establishments,” noted Evgeniy Lyulin.

Earlier it was reported that deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the National Assembly adopted the law on “nalivayki” in the first reading at a meeting held on March 28, 2024.
