The terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall was financed through various financial organizations using cryptocurrency. According to the head of Rosfinmonitoring, Yuri Chikhanchin, residents of a number of countries took part in this. RIA Novosti reports this.

During a speech at the International Compliance Council, Chikhanchin said that the investigation has not yet been completed, but initial data indicates the participation of persons from different countries in the preparation of the terrorist attack. He also added that the financing of the terrorist attack took place through numerous financial organizations using various instruments, including cryptocurrency. According to the head of Rosfinmonitoring, international terrorism remains the main challenge for society and internal security, as evidenced by the tragic events of March 22.

“The terrorist attack in Crocus once again showed that terrorism is a transnational phenomenon, terrorism should not be a problem of only one country,” Chikhanchin said.

He also noted that financial organizations played a huge role in the investigation of events related to Crocus.

“I would like to personally say a huge thank you to you. You not only helped solve the crime that is being solved, but also prevented a number of other crimes,” Chikhanchin also said.

The meeting of the International Compliance Council is being held as part of the forum on combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism in Nizhny Novgorod.
