Five major streets of Chelyabinsk will have dedicated lanes in 2024. Evening Chelyabinsk.

In the summer, about 7.5 kilometers of new markings for public transport will be installed in the regional center. This will ensure stable traffic on about 40 bus and trolleybus routes. Vecherka found out on which streets the dedicated lanes will appear at a press conference of the Regional Management Center of the Chelyabinsk Region.

Deputy Minister of Roads and Transport Alexander Egorov recalled that this reform has been carried out for the fourth year. Dedicated lines help increase the speed of public transport, ensure the stability of its operation and schedule.

— In 2020, among cities with a population of over a million, Chelyabinsk was in last place in terms of the length of dedicated lanes. Thanks to the work done, the regional center is now already in fourth place on this list with an indicator of 29 kilometers. This figure will have to grow to 80 kilometers,” said Alexander Egorov.

In 2023, a feasibility study was developed for each section of the allocated strip. It was used to analyze routes, their traffic intensity, and the effect of introducing a dedicated lane: the speed was assessed at normal times and during rush hour. According to this document, it was decided to apply special markings where the speed of transport during peak hours is reduced by 25%.

For 2024, another 7.5 kilometers of dedicated roads have been designed. Four new sections of markings will be applied on five major streets, including an extension along Lenin Avenue from Vorovskogo Street to Entuziastov. In addition, dedicated lanes will appear on Sverdlovsky Avenue from Pobedy Avenue to Lenin, along Vorovskogo Street from Timiryazev to Blyukher, as well as in the corridor of Komarova and Geroev Tankograd streets.

“In some areas, to provide access to numerous exits from adjacent territories, to parking spaces on a dedicated lane, gaps in the markings will be provided and appropriate signs will be installed,” noted Andrey Shvetsov, head of the road safety department of the Chelyabinsk Road Committee.

Before the New Year, the committee had already announced the construction of five new dedicated lanes. Then an auction was announced for traffic redevelopment on seven main streets. 12.5 million rubles were allocated for this work.
