Governor Alexey Russkikh said that he has set himself a personal goal to achieve the completion of a large-scale reconstruction of the regional hospital by 2031. The head of the region announced this during his report for 2023.
“Our pain is that the buildings and structures in which the medical institutions are located are in a deplorable state. A striking example is the oldest regional hospital in the region, opened in 1804 and named Alexandrovskaya in honor of Emperor Alexander the First. It is located in buildings that are 100 or even 150 years old,” Russkikh added.
At the end of 2023, the speaker of the ZSO, Valery Malyshev, criticized the conditions of detention in the Ulyanovsk regional clinical hospital – there are long queues, including for operations, and a lack of space in the wards, which is why patients are forced to lie in the corridors. The then Minister of Health Olesya Kolotik-Kameneva did not deny the existence of problems. According to her, the institution’s material and technical base and buildings are outdated. There is no money to build a new hospital. According to preliminary estimates, more than 20 billion rubles are needed for the facility.
