In January, one of the oldest professors, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor in the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, Yuri Dubensky, resigned from Omsk State University. He worked at the university for 40 years. His salary recently was 17,700 rubles.
As Dubensky said, he received such a salary as a result of the initiatives of the university rector Sergei Zamyatin to reduce teaching hours in all courses and reduce the bonus for all honored professors of Omsk State University by 10,000 rubles. The professor believes that the new rector is literally pushing teachers out of the university. For these purposes, according to Dubensky, in addition to financial influence, psychology is also used.
“Another way to destroy teachers: through fear. The administration collects information from students about the quality of work of teachers. (…) The consequences of collecting such information are unknown. Administrative initiative, which with its uncertainty provokes fear in both students and teachers. Another area of sowing fear is students attending training sessions. The teacher is responsible for students’ attendance at classes. You must report monthly to your administrative manager. I assume that the students are adults and capable citizens of the Russian Federation. For this reason, they can, as living people, be responsible for their visits themselves,” the professor thinks.
Yuri Dubensky claims that he hoped for a personal meeting with the rector to discuss problematic issues, but until the moment of his dismissal he did not talk to him.
