The Commissioner for Human Rights has been replaced in the Smolensk region. Gennady Senchenkov was appointed to the position of Ombudsman.

The decision was made during the 7th meeting of the Smolensk Regional Duma of the 7th convocation, which took place on April 24.

Let us recall that Governor Vasily Anokhin submitted the candidacy of Gennady Senchenkov for consideration by deputies of the legislative assembly for appointment to the post of Commissioner for Human Rights in connection with the expiration of the term of office of the current regional ombudsman Alexander Kapustin.

From February 2020 until his appointment, Gennady Petrovich Senchenkov headed the Smolensk regional branch of the all-Russian public organization of veterans and pensioners of the prosecutor’s office.

Previously, he worked as a deputy prosecutor of the Smolensk region.
