Almost a thousand street surveillance cameras are installed in the republic, but the police do not have access to broadcasts from 80 of them.

This was announced by Yuri Marchenko, acting Minister of Internal Affairs for Komi, at a meeting of the State Council of the republic. Most of the faulty cameras are located in the Ust-Vymsky, Udora and Ust-Tsilemsky districts, as well as in Pechora, which has 20 cameras, but 17 of them are still not working.

In the Izhemsky district, none of the eight cameras are functioning due to software problems. In Ukhta, there are also problems with the operation of devices – up to 70 cameras have not worked throughout the year, and now 114 out of 204 are no longer functioning.

This problem is very relevant in light of the increasing incidence of vandalism at memorials and monuments of military glory throughout the country. In Syktyvkar, video recording at the Eternal Flame has not worked since September 2023, but now the system is functioning again.
