In the Northern Manor microdistrict, the grand opening of a park took place, named after academician Valery Legasov, head of the government commission for eliminating the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

The event was attended by the Head of the city of Tula Olga Slyusareva, Deputy Head of the Administration of the city of Tula Inessa Feldman, Daughter of the scientist Inga Legasova, Chairman of the Tula regional public organization of disabled people “Chernobyl Union” Vladimir Naumov, Liquidators of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Tula region, Schoolchildren and students.

Inga Legasova thanked those present for the kind words and fond memory of her father.

At the end of the ceremony, a minute of silence was announced, after which the participants laid flowers at the bas-relief of Valery Legasov.

The opening of the park coincides with the beginning of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Academician V.A. Legasov and modernity”, which is taking place these days in Tula.
