13 teams from different parts of the region competed for victory at the regional stage of the All-Russian drone piloting championship.

Orenburg Secondary School No. 86 delegated primary school students to the competition. One of them is Gleb Paskonov. At home he trains on a simulator, but he also has a real drone. His parents gave it to Gleb for his birthday when his son turned 9 years old. Now the boy is in 4th grade. From the first days at school I attended the robotics and programming club and for the third year now I have been studying at Quantorium in the aeroquantum direction.

– Last year, Gleb took first place among Quantorium students and showed the best time for piloting a drone. For winning the competition, he was awarded a ticket to a health camp for a summer IT shift,” says his mother, Olga Paskonova.

Olga Sergeevna herself works in the IT field as a 1C analyst, so she only welcomes her son’s passion for digital technologies.

In the age category from 7 to 13 years old, three teams took part in the championship. The majority (10 teams) are teenagers aged 14 and older. Sergei Malnatsky, Alexander Reverchuk and Vyacheslav Popov left the house at five in the morning. From ZATO Komarovsky to Orenburg the route is not close, 480 kilometers. All three attend the school section of robotics, 3D modeling, programming and UAV piloting, headed by Vitaly Vladimirovich Zivkov. Among the championship participants, the Komarovites are immediately visible; they are wearing bright yellow T-shirts with the emblem of their team “TechKom”.

“We have an FPV drone, first-person view,” explains Sergey. – You put on virtual glasses, and in front of your eyes is the picture that a flying drone sees, as if your eyes were on it.

“I’m the first pilot, Sergei the second, Slava is the engineer,” Alexander introduces the team. – Slava will take the test, and Sergey and I will take turns on the simulator and have to speed through a course with obstacles, three laps each.

The test questions will show whether the guys master the theory. “How many motors does a hexacopter have?“, “The point of no return is…”, “What does the KV marking on a quadcopter motor mean?” 20 questions are given 20 minutes.

Everything is already ready at the OSU esports club. Participants sit down at their computers and pick up joysticks. Each pilot is given 5 minutes to warm up.

The process has begun. “Turn down the gas“, “Too early”, “Missed gate» – information boards light up on the monitors every now and then. Noticing the pilot’s raised hand, the judge approaches and records the result.

A physics and computer science teacher from the granite school in the Novoorsky district, Ilnur Mullirkin, brought his son Daniyal and two school activists Sofya Frolova and Kira Nedashkovskaya to the competition. All of them are members of the First Movement. The organizer of the competition was the regional branch of “First Movements»together with the Ministries of Education, Digital Development and Communications, the Department of Youth Policy and OSU.

“The “Pilots of the Future” championship is being held for the first time,” said Elena Ilyina, chairman of the board of the regional branch of “First Movements» Orenburg region. – The two winning teams, one from each age category, will go to Kazan in July, where they will race not on online simulators, but on real drones.

Secondary school No. 4 in the village of Perevolotsky nominated the “Berkuts-2” team for the championship. The children were accompanied by a physics and mathematics teacher with 40 years of experience, Munavara Vakhitova. A few years ago, a “Growth Point” opened at the school, and modern equipment for robotics classes appeared.

“I once saw a program on TV that talked about drones and that even schoolchildren could assemble them,” recalls Munavara Nazimovna. – So we decided to try it. My parents bought drones and we set up obstacles in the gym to fly around them. To broaden our horizons on the topic of drones, we went to Orenburg, to the presidential “cadet”. And just two weeks later we competed – our Bolislav Novitsky entered the top ten, taking 7th place out of 29.

It’s one thing to pilot drones and another to assemble them yourself. Using sponsors’ funds, the school purchased components for an FPV drone, and now the children from Perevolotsky know its structure down to the last screw.

It was the Perevolotsk “Golden Eagles” who became the winners of the regional stage, as well as the guys from the governor’s lyceum for gifted children. Now they are expected in Kazan. And based on the results of the finals, the best pilots will undergo internships in large industrial and fuel and energy companies, where they will be able to apply their acquired skills.
