Tambov students will cover almost 50 kilometers as part of an event dedicated to the 79th anniversary of Victory Day. The sports festival started at Derzhavin University.
The route is 49 kilometers. 39 students of the Derzhavinsky sports department will run. The path passes through Tambov, the villages: Malinovka, Chernyanoye, Goreloye, Troitskaya Dubrava, Viryatino and the village of Sosnovka.
Artyom Savelyev, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of TSU named after G.R. Derzhavina: “In fact, they don’t run the entire route. Therefore, it is not 50 kilometers, but about 20 kilometers. But the load is still heavy. They prepare throughout the year, so the guys are prepared.”
The race was first held in 1980 along the route from the city of Tambov to the homeland of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya – the village of Osino-Gai. Over the years of the project’s existence, more than 1,000 people have taken part in the runs. Every year, the sports festival brings together not only the people who were at the origins of the creation of the athletics race, athletes and students, but also veterans and children of war and home front workers.
