25th of April. Over 300 tons of humanitarian aid, as well as 44 vehicles, were sent to the special operation zone. This became known today, April 25, during Mayor Ruslan Bolotov’s report on the activities of the city authorities last year, writes IrkutskMedia news agency with reference to the press service of the city administration.

As the mayor emphasized, Irkutsk residents are doing everything together to bring the common Victory closer. Compatriots defending their homeland are receiving assistance from the very first days.

“Volunteers, social activists, local community organizations, Veterans’ Councils, labor collectives and commercial organizations, caring citizens – no one was left behind. They sew clothes and stretchers, weave camouflage nets, knit warm clothes with their own hands, make many things to be sent to the front line. Only Employees of the Irkutsk administration transferred 27 units of equipment to the locations of military units on the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics,” noted Mayor Ruslan Bolotov.

During the previous year, dozens of units of various equipment were sent to the front line: cars, minibuses, UAZs, GAZs, KAMAZs. All vehicles undergo thorough maintenance and their performance is checked by experienced specialists.

To ensure the efficiency and accuracy of cargo delivery, it was decided to create the “Favorite City” fund, which raises funds for the needs of the Northern Military District soldiers. The initiative arose from members of the Public Chamber of Irkutsk and the regional branch of the Russian Military Historical Society. During the work of this organization, residents of Irkutsk donated more than 9 million rubles. These funds are used exclusively for the needs of military personnel.

Considerable attention is paid to providing military personnel on the front line with special equipment and household items, and assistance is also provided to the relatives of soldiers. It is important for military personnel to know that their families are warm and cared for, that they are not forgotten. This work is being carried out jointly with the administration of Irkutsk, noted Mikhail Lunev, director of the “Beloved City” charity foundation.

In Irkutsk, military families are provided with medical, psychological, social, legal, legal and domestic support. Last year, together with the regional government and the city council, more than 30 events were implemented. For example, children of military personnel receive warm meals in schools, attend preschool institutions for free, use public transport, and attend creative and sports clubs. City medical institutions conduct examinations free of charge. And those who live in private houses are provided with firewood.

In addition, at the last meeting of the Duma in 2023, a decision was made to compensate the cost of travel tickets on municipal transport for the families of participants in the special military operation. Yulia Domashevskaya, head of the branch of the State Fund for Supporting Participants of the Defense Military District “Defenders of the Fatherland” in the Irkutsk region, noted that fighters and their loved ones always feel regular support, and any issues are resolved quickly when contacting the city administration.

Natalia Kozhokar, mother of deceased SVO member Nikolai Kozhokar, emphasized how important it is for them, women and mothers, to receive a human response from the city and personally from Mayor Ruslan Bolotov. She expressed gratitude for the attention to their families, for the fact that their sons and husbands are remembered, that their memory is preserved and inspires them to move forward.
