The acceptance of applications for the regional stage of the “Mother Entrepreneur” competition has started in Omsk. Participants from previous years shared their success stories.
Today, April 25, the “Mom Entrepreneur” project was discussed at a press conference in the regional House of Journalists. Let us remind you that the competition has been held in Omsk since 2019. Essentially, this is an educational forum that helps women start and develop their own business. Mothers on maternity leave, women raising (adopting, caring for) minor children, as well as mother-entrepreneurs who opened a business less than a year ago can apply. At the regional stage, the winning amount is 100 thousand rubles. The winner will represent the Omsk region at the federal stage, competing with rivals for 1 million rubles.
In 2023, the competition jury named the project the best Yulia Petrova. She conducts excursions for Omsk residents and guests around Omsk. It is curious that the young mother took part in the competition while expecting her second child. And now the baby and the entrepreneur’s business are growing at the same time.
– Thanks to participation in the competition, new horizons opened up for me. I began to think in financial terms. If earlier I measured it with the parameters “interesting – not interesting”, “I want – I don’t want”, now I have social responsibility. As a result, my business became more serious, deep and thorough, – shared Yulia Petrova. – In 2023, the federal stage of show jumping was held for the first time. And then they invited not only the current winners from all regions, like me, but also the best participants of previous years. And these were already entrepreneurs whose business became even larger. It was useful to communicate with them and find out how they work, think, and build processes.
Now Yulia Petrova is making plans for the new hot season, preparing new excursions for Omsk residents.
– For example, we will have a collaboration with one of the Omsk hotels. Together we organize sightseeing tours for both guests and other Omsk residents. We have discovered that the residents of our city have such a need. In addition, we are ready to launch gastronomic excursions – they include an introduction to the restaurant itself and its cuisine. There will also be excursions on a yacht– shared Yulia Petrova.
Here’s another example. Marianna Zgorzelskaya she has two children, she is also a jewelry stylist, the founder of her own brand and now a mentor of the “Mom Entrepreneur” project. Participated in the competition in 2019 and 2020.
– While on maternity leave I started making jewelry. Maternity leave is a time when you breathe out and can focus on what is really interesting to you. Women’s business is initially driven by emotions (like it or not), and then you grow to certain financial indicators, an understanding of how and what can be monetized,” noted Marianna Zgorzhelskaya. – The “Mom Entrepreneur” competition is an incredibly warm community that will always support you. This association of like-minded people is the very soil that is exactly what a woman who decides to start her own business and develop it needs. Five years have passed, my project has grown. Everything I dreamed of came true. In 2024, I will be happy to share my experience and best practices with the contestants as a mentor.
Omsk residents can apply here until mid-August. After selecting applicants, 30 people will be able to participate in the competition. The forum will take place from September 9 to 13.
