The Moscow hackathon will unite IT developers from different regions of Russia

Specialists from different regions of Russia submitted applications for the Moscow IT competition. This was reported by the press service of the capital’s Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.

More than 2.7 thousand specialists in the field of information technology have already applied to participate in the annual competition for the Moscow Mayor’s “Leaders of Digital Transformation” award. Registration will continue until June 5 on the project page.

As Deputy Mayor Natalya Sergunina said, the majority of applications come from developers from Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan and the Krasnodar Territory. Representatives of friendly countries, including India and China, are also showing interest in the hackathon.

65% of candidates are students aged 18 to 22 years. These are mainly senior students from universities such as the Russian Technological University “MIREA”, the National Research Technological University “MISIS”, Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman and St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO).

Hackathon participants will have to create useful services to solve one of 25 technological problems. They are aimed at developing entrepreneurship, construction, transport and other areas.

The assignments were prepared by large companies and departments of the capital, as well as representatives of the administration of the Volgograd region and the Government of the Kamchatka Territory.

To work on products, contestants will unite into teams of two to five people. 250 teams will advance to the finals, where they will present their developments to experts.

The authors of the best projects will receive a reward of one million rubles and will be able to realize their ideas. For second and third place, specialists will be awarded 600 and 400 thousand rubles, respectively.

The competition has been held since 2019. Over five years, over 30 thousand people took part in it. They have developed more than 1.7 thousand solutions and created about 60 startups.
