Today, April 25, a presentation of the brochure “Historical calendar “Kurgan in ’44” took place at the Kurgan City Council of Veterans.

1944 was a time of war, but the city was already deciding the issues of returning to a future peaceful life. The first music school was opened, which gave rise to the history of the regional music school, the first sports school was created, the first city chess tournament was held, and the first championship among city football clubs took place. The newspaper “Red Kurgan” most fully reflected the course of life during the war period.

“For four years, the City Council has been working to create a chronicle of life in Kurgan during wartime conditions. During this time, historical calendars of 41, 42, and 43 were published at the expense of the city subsidy,” the public organization said.

We worked in collaboration with employees of the state archive of socio-political history of the Kurgan region, the central city library named after. V. Mayakovsky and the editor of the website “Faces of Trans-Urals” Alexander Isaakovich Bukreev.

“The historical brochures published by the city council of veterans are aimed primarily at a youth audience in order to convey to them the heroic pages of the history of their small homeland and to form a respectful attitude towards the achievements (military or labor) of previous generations of compatriots,” it was said at the meeting.

It was attended by the co-authors of the new historical brochure, representatives of the education department and library system, veteran and youth organizations of the city, and creative groups.
