The championship and championship of the Central Federal District in weightlifting are held in Yaroslavl-Yarreg

The championship and championship of the Central Federal District in weightlifting started at the Yarbatut multifunctional sports center. More than 350 athletes from 16 regions of Russia take part in the competition.

“We need to hold competitions of such a high level in the region as often as possible, because this is a strong motivation for our guys,” noted Vera Dargel, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Yaroslavl Region. – When they see how their peers break records in Russia, Europe or the world, they also want to become champions. That’s why we actively popularize sports. We have athletes whom we are proud of and whom young people look up to.

Weightlifting develops character, willpower and fortitude in our boys and girls. We are grateful to the Russian Weightlifting Federation for the opportunity to hold competitions of this level in the Yaroslavl region and, of course, we will be happy to host such prestigious tournaments in the future.

Athletes will demonstrate their professional training in competitions in classical combined events – snatch and clean and jerk. A tough fight will take place in each weight category. The Yaroslavl region will be represented by 30 people from Yaroslavl, Rybinsk, Tutaev and Danilov.

“For the Yaroslavl region, weightlifting is one of the basic sports, and we hope that our athletes will perform successfully,” said Oksana Solonenko, president of the Yaroslavl Region Weightlifting Federation.

Based on the results of the competition, the best among men and women will have the opportunity to compete at the Russian Championship in Novosibirsk, and among boys and girls aged 13–17 years – at the final stage of the Summer Student Spartakiad.

In the Yaroslavl region, more than 700 people are involved in weightlifting. The halls operate not only in large cities of the region, but also in rural areas.
