All lakes in Kaliningrad need to be improved. This opinion was voiced by the architect, chairman of the regional Union of Architects of Russia Igor Li in an interview with RIA Baltic Plus. According to him, “the city is full of abandoned stream beds fenced off with fences.” “They could be improved. It’s clear that it’s not immediate,” says Igor Li:
“We need to clean them up, eliminate unauthorized drains, which, as we know, occur. The banks need to be turned into walking areas with sidewalks, benches and other attributes of a normal recreation area. There is a large reserve, which has not yet been tapped, but I would like to. You can give an example – Lake Khlebnoye or Poplavok. What it was like before and what it became after the improvement. This is a very popular place for walking and relaxing. It decorates the city. This is probably the ideal we should strive for. The situation is similar with Lake Superior.”
Let us remind you that Lake Penkovoe became the leader in the voting for improvement projects in Kaliningrad. The reservoir is located on the Okruzhnaya road towards the Moskovsky district. Some Kaliningrad residents did not even know about its existence before the vote. It will last until the end of April. The winning facilities will be improved in 2025.
