Deputies of the Legislative Assembly established a memorable date – Trade Union Day of the Nizhny Novgorod Region

The bill was developed at the suggestion of the region’s Oblsovprof.

On April 25, at a meeting of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, deputies established a memorable date on November 16 – Trade Union Day of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The date is associated with the founding day of the Gorky Regional Trade Union Council. On November 16, 1948, the first Gorky Regional Inter-Union Conference of Trade Unions took place, at which all trade unions in the region were represented.

The bill was developed at the proposal of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Union of Trade Union Organizations and is aimed at developing the trade union movement and recognizing the role of trade unions in the region in the formation and development of socio-economic partnerships and the protection of labor rights of workers.

Currently, Oblsovprof includes 317 thousand people, including 49 thousand working youth.

“There is no separate memorial date uniting trade union organizations at the federal level. At the same time, many constituent entities of the Russian Federation have adopted regional laws that establish regional memorial dates – Days of Trade Unions and Trade Union Workers. I believe that trade unions are important and should be supported. They protect the labor rights of workers. I am sure that the bill will help increase the role of trade unions in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Therefore, the deputies supported the adoption of the regional law,” noted Natalya Smotrakova, chairman of the committee of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
