On April 25, using special equipment and solutions, specialists from the Ulyanovsk Regional Disinfection Station destroyed the pests that had already appeared on the territory of the Vladimir Garden park.
Ticks are carriers of infectious diseases, the most severe of which is encephalitis. To reduce the incidence of tick-borne infections among the population in the region, a set of measures has been organized, which includes the treatment of territories. Previously, the regional disinfection station carried out actriacidal treatment of the territory of the Family Park, Karlinskaya Grove, Wind Rose, and the sanatorium named after E. M. Chuchkalov with a total area of 30 hectares.
“Today we treated the park with a special long-acting preparation. Tomorrow dew will fall, the drug will sink into the soil, and after that people and animals can safely stay in the treated area. We ask park guests to be careful to avoid harmful effects. On the day of treatment, you should not approach the trees or touch the plants. This can cause an allergic reaction and nausea,” says Irina Sarantseva, head of the department of the regional disinfection station.
Tick-borne encephalitis can occur with various clinical manifestations; most often, central nervous system lesions predominate in the form of encephalitis and meningitis. The first symptoms appear after 5-30 days: a person’s temperature always rises, weakness and malaise, headache, vomiting, photophobia appear. In more severe cases, delusions, hallucinations, and motor agitation with loss of spatial and temporal orientation appear. Proper equipment and treating clothing with special repellents when going outdoors will help avoid tick bites.
After going outdoors, it is necessary to conduct a mutual inspection. If you find a tick on your body, you must go to the emergency room or the nearest medical facility.
