Dust pollution today, April 25, was recorded in the air of the Volgograd region. The reason was the echoes sandstorm “Red Minevra” in northern Africa.

The entire south of Russia found itself under a dusty blanket. Volgograd residents did not witness the orange sky, but they could see a dusty curtain. In the west (this is on the opposite side from the Volga), the sky acquired a faded grayish color.

Of course, this phenomenon was not as clear as in May 2021, when dust obscured the sunlight.

At the same time, the source of the dust storm was not the Republic of Kalmykia, as previously assumed. The main focus is Africa. Also, high concentrations of dust are recorded on the Black Sea coast and the Arabian Peninsula. By evening, the wind drove the air contaminated with particles of sand and soil further to the west and lifted it further north: to Voronezh, Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod.

In addition to the orange sky, the forecast for extreme heat is relevant to us. The temperature regime will react with lightning speed to the African invasion, the hot breath of the Sahara. Stops in Volgograd warmed up to +46 degrees, and the air to +29 degrees.
