The annual all-Russian event in honor of the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War will not be limited to Victory Day – the “Immortal Regiment” (0+) event will be held in various forms from May 1 to 12. For safety reasons, there will be no march this year, but there are plenty of opportunities to become involved in the movement, including new and original ones.

On chest, boat and plane
Participants in the press conference of the Samara Regional Broadcasting Agency told how the action will be organized in the province. According to the chairman of the regional branch of the All-Russian public civil-patriotic movement “Immortal Regiment” Svetlana Prilepskaya, the event will be held in a multi-format mode, and everyone will be able to choose the option of participation to their liking. Various types of events are designed for people of all ages, starting with preschoolers. Thematic matinees and exhibitions will be held in kindergartens from May 1 to May 12, and for schoolchildren with May 6 to May 9 – thematic lines. At the lesson “Talking about important things” on May 6, students will talk about the action “Immortal Regiment“.
Despite the fact that this year there will again not be a large procession with photographs of relatives who took part in the war, the organizers suggest not to refuse the opportunity to walk with a portrait of their hero along the street. You can do this by sticking it on your clothes. The website polkrf.ru has a special photo design designer where you can place a portrait, sign it, and add a sticker. There you can also make a winning avatar with the image of your grandfather or grandmother for instant messengers and social networks.
As last year, the organizers propose to decorate public, official and personal transport with portraits. There are no restrictions here, the main thing is not to violate the rules of the traffic police, so on personal cars it is recommended to place the photo on the right side window of the rear door. New this year was the proposal to go further in the transport direction and place hero cards on river vessels, sailboats, boats and small aircraft.
As Prilepskaya said, it will take place this year.”Immortal Regiment“and on the front line. Northern Military District soldiers will hang photographs of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers in their dugouts.
Digital Regiment
Another option to become involved in the memory campaign is to place an image of a war participant on the avatar of instant messengers and social networks. Svetlana Prilepskaya believes that this can be done from May 1. As already mentioned, the portal designer will help you create a beautiful picture”Immortal Regiment“, and from May 1, also a special chat bot, which was developed by “Victory Volunteers”. You can find the program on the movement’s website. In addition to an avatar, the bot is capable of making greeting cards from portraits for the Victory Day. Another, already traditional, form of a digital regiment will be broadcasting photographs of veterans on various media resources – scoreboards and TV channels.
Windows and walls of memory
For many years, one of the formats for holding the “Immortal Regiment” has been the “Windows of Memory” campaign. It was initiated by the social movement “Victory Volunteers“. Portraits of veterans appear on the windows of houses, kindergartens, schools and other educational institutions on the eve of Victory Day. This year, “Walls of Memory” will also be set up in educational institutions. They will consist of wall banners on which pupils, students, teachers may post images of veteran relatives.
The Chairman of the Samara regional branch of “Victory Volunteers” Sergei Andriyanov invited large enterprises – factories, commercial organizations – to join this format by decorating their foyers or checkpoints for the holiday.
Creativity of memory
Youth organizations will also contribute to the celebration of Victory Day. The head of the Samara Youth Union, Anastasia Sofina, said: this is not the first year that the region has been hosting a competition of creative works “In Defense of Peace.” It began as an idea to popularize the works of classics about the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. There are many different nominations, but now, in the Year of the Family, a special family category has appeared and, as it turns out, is the most popular. Anastasia Sofina encouraged those wishing to register – applications for the competition are being accepted until May 6. The regulations about it are on the website and social networks of the Samara Youth Union.
The movement will also launch a traditional patriotic education project, “Inside History.” A large block of it is devoted directly to the “Immortal Regiment”.
Victory Train
And the immersive museum “Victory Train” (0+) will precede all events and prepare Samarans for the May celebrations. These are 10 carriages with a unique exhibition that immerses you in various fragments of the Great Patriotic War – a trench, an ambulance carriage, a concentration camp barracks, a blockade and much more. The train will arrive at the railway station on April 26. You can visit it from 10:00 to 19:00 from April 26 to 29 in Samara and April 30 in Syzran. Since the exhibition can accommodate no more than 3 thousand people, a free ticket to it can only be obtained by registering on the website poyezd-pobedy.ru .
