Today, April 25, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the Regional Journalism Competition “Information Genres” took place in Volgograd.

The grand jury had a difficult task – to select the winners of the competition from among the voting leaders in the shortlist. It was an epic battle. There is no other way to describe the jury members’ discussion of the contestants’ work. Each prize-winning entry was discussed with a level of detail that the authors may not have intended. As a result, all competitors can be sure that their work has received proper evaluation!

Let us remind you that the determination of the winners took place in several stages.

1. The shortlist was formed from works selected by each jury member from the general list of submitted works (almost 300 works were submitted) according to their professional criteria. In each nomination, the shortlist included 20-25 works.

2. General soft voting in the shortlist with the determination of candidates for prize-winners – 3-6 works per nomination.

3. In-person discussion and analysis of works by jury members, determination of winners.

This multi-level approach made it possible to seriously study and discuss all the submitted works and reasonably determine the winners in each of the four categories, which is what happened today.
