Sports Day took place at the stand of the Moscow region exhibition-forum “Russia” at VDNKh

“Today is a large-scale Sports Day at the Russia exhibition. Various achievements in the field of physical education and sports were presented at our stand today. Guests of the exhibition could enjoy demonstration performances and master classes from both eminent professional athletes and sports school students,” commented Alexey Perov, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Moscow Region.

​At the “Podmoskovye” stand, throughout the day there were presentations of professional sports societies and sports educational institutions of the region: the handball club “Zvezda”, the field hockey team “Dynamo-Elektrostal”, the rugby club “VVA-Podmoskovye”, as well as sports schools for hockey , athletics, boxing, summer sports, Olympic Reserve School No. 3 and Sports School No. 5 “Master-Saturn”.

​During the presentations, athletes and representatives of teams from the Moscow region told visitors to the stand about their sports, clubs, and also conducted master classes in fencing, freestyle football, acrobatic rock and roll, discus throwing, shot put, ice hockey, field hockey, handball, rugby, boxing and laser pistol shooting. After the master classes, anyone could get an autograph and take a photo with the athletes and coaches, and young sports fans were able to meet Lipa, the official mascot of the Zvezda handball club.

​Also at a site near Moscow, representatives of the Integral home for young technicians from the Khimki urban district spoke about the section for sports drone piloting and the prospects of a children’s center for training in UAV control. All guests were able to view and study the drones exhibited during the presentation.

“Today at the exhibition, along with traditional sports, a new discipline of “drone racing” was presented. Competitions in this very young sport were included in the program of the recent “Games of the Future” in Kazan. Of course, we see the growing popularity of e-sports disciplines, physical sports, including drone racing. We will pay great attention to them,” said the head of the regional Ministry of Sports, Alexey Perov.

​At the stand there was an open platform of mutual support for mothers whose children love football. The founders of the “Soccer Moms” project spoke in detail about the initiative and showed themed videos.

​At the Moscow Region stand throughout the entire Sports Day, sports quizzes were held with the presentation of memorable prizes from the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Moscow Region. Also during the day, videos about sports projects implemented in the Moscow region and athletes representing the region were shown on the stand screens.

At the same time, at the international exhibition and forum “Russia” at VDNKh, a plenary session “Sport. Possibilities of the future” with the participation of Russian Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin.

“At the meeting, plans and strategies for the development of sports until 2030 were discussed. The upcoming international competitions were also discussed – the BRICS Games and the World Friendship Games. Athletes from the Moscow region are actively preparing for these competitions. As for mass sports, we are ready for the start of the summer season. The new running season has already started, and the first cycling races will take place in the near future. The traditional “Come Out to the Yard” project with the participation of Russian football stars, organized on the initiative of the Governor of the Moscow Region Andrei Vorobyov, is also ready to start. The program will be intense,” added Alexey Perov, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Moscow Region.

​The international exhibition and forum “Russia” at VDNKh runs from November 4, 2023 to July 8, 2024. The Moscow Region stand is located in pavilion 75. Guests visiting it find themselves in a completely digital and multimedia world of achievements, great history and unique culture of the region. The audio guide, voiced by People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Sergei Bezrukov, will help you navigate the diversity of the exhibition.

Earlier, Governor of the Moscow Region Andrei Vorobyov said that the Moscow region is trying to satisfy the sports needs of the population. The construction of sports complexes in the region does not stop.

“I heard from schoolchildren that you can’t have too many swimming pools and ice skating rinks,” he said.
