On April 19, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko presented the Luka Krymsky Medal to the head of the department – an endoscopist, Samara City Clinical Hospital No. 1 named after N.I. Pirogov to Sergei Skupchenko for many years of conscientious work and professionalism.

The specialist’s work experience in the healthcare system is 17 years.

“During my studies at the university, I attended a surgical club and then, when assigned to specialties, I chose surgery and I don’t regret it at all,” said Sergei Skupchenko. – My work is mainly related to emergency surgery and helping patients with life-threatening conditions. When you help people, you get moral satisfaction from it, this is especially felt in surgery. Helping people is my life. Family and loved ones understand this, because medicine is a lifestyle.”

As the doctor notes, a medical specialty involves constant learning, professional growth and the development of new techniques.

“Medicine does not stand still and is constantly evolving. I am also learning new operations, in particular, I have now begun to use more minimally invasive techniques. It is always interesting not to stop there. We must constantly learn and contribute to the development of medicine. My colleagues and I have patents for inventions, scientific articles, which are also related to helping people,” noted Sergei Skupchenko.

In 2022, Sergey Skupchenko, as a volunteer physician as part of a group of surgeons in the Samara region, participated in providing medical care to patients in a front-line hospital, saving the lives and health of people in Donetsk and Dokuchaevsk (Donetsk People’s Republic).

Colleagues speak of him as a highly professional specialist and a good friend.
“Sergei Sergeevich and I graduated from college together, and since then our medical destinies have been linked. He is an excellent specialist, an excellent colleague, we have been working together for years, always side by side, supporting each other and moving only forward for the benefit of our hospital and for the benefit of saving our patients,” shared the head of the surgical department of the hospital, Sergei Katkov.
