In 2024, it will be 80 years since the complete liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. Samara and Minsk have long-standing friendly ties. During the Great Patriotic War, many Belarusian enterprises were evacuated to Kuibyshev.
During the teleconference, families from Samara and Minsk talked about their loved ones – participants in the Great Patriotic War, prepared meaningful, emotional reports about the fate of soldiers and veterans, showed family trees, and shared memories. Very interesting reports were also presented on the reflection of the events of 1941-1945 in the memory of peoples and in works of art.
As Irina Mikhailovna Glusskaya, a member of the Council under the Governor of the Samara Region for Interethnic Relations and the president of the Russian-Belarusian Brotherhood 2000 organization, noted in her opening speech: “Our task is to preserve the memory of the feat of the people, who, with their unity and cohesion, hard work and dedication, incredible love for the Motherland, provided us with peace, freedom and independence”
The event ended with free online communication between children from different countries, and in the finale the participants all sang the song “Katyusha” together.
