On April 26, the portal of the government of the Tula region published an appeal from Governor Alexei Dyumin to local residents on the occasion of the International Day of Remembrance for Victims of Radiation Accidents and Disasters.

On this day, 38 years ago, an accident occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The head of the Tula region noted that the population is proud of the courage and courage of the liquidators of the consequences of the disaster.

“Among them were residents of the Tula region – selfless people, real heroes who blocked the path of radiation. Our duty is to remember their feat and prevent a repetition of such a tragedy. Thanks to everyone who contributes to preserving the memory of the liquidators of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident,” said Governor Dyumin.

By the way, the Tula News Service talked with the leading archaeographer of the State Archive of the Tula Region, Elizaveta Kurchakova, and found out what was written in the newspapers of the armory capital and regions during the most difficult post-accident period. The first message about the Chernobyl disaster was published four days after the accident – on April 30 in the Izvestia newspaper.
