In St. Petersburg, they thought about the waiting period for police in the paid parking zone

The Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Vitaly Savelyev, was asked to introduce a non-fine waiting period for the police after an accident in a paid parking lot. There is also an idea to develop special parking rates for private businesses.

Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Pavel Krupnik addressed such initiatives to the Ministry of Transport. He outlined his thoughts on this matter, as well as the aspirations of St. Petersburg residents, in a letter addressed to the minister, RT reports.
The deputy points out that paid parking helped get rid of traffic jams in the city center and improved the “aesthetic condition of the streets.” However, many questions remain unresolved.
“Citizens are proposing to introduce a non-fine waiting period for the police in the event of a traffic accident or emergency,” explains the deputy.
According to Krupnik, private businesses whose premises are located within the paid parking zone also need special conditions. The St. Petersburg parliamentarian proposes to include such entrepreneurs in the list of residents using a software update.
“Clarification of the rules will not require additional budget investments,” the Legislative Assembly deputy is confident.
As Business Petersburg wrote, earlier the city authorities thought about the possibility for St. Petersburg residents to remotely challenge what they considered to be an unfairly issued fine for an error when paying for parking. An example of filling out the documents that will be required to file an application to challenge a fine can be found on the website of the St. Petersburg Transport Committee.
City authorities are also considering the possibility of offering a discount on timely payment of paid parking fines.
