About a dozen main transport routes in the Don capital need to be expanded, says Oleg Kulik, director of DRSU-Don.
The director of a road construction company announced this at a press conference in Rostov-on-Don.
According to Oleg Kulik, now in Rostov there is “nowhere to plug in” even lanes for public transport. With the construction of tram lines, the road builder expects a “collapse” for automobile traffic.
— On Nagibina Avenue there are six lanes: three in one direction and three in the other. One lane of public transport, and the tram will take two more lanes. There is only one lane left for car traffic,” Kulik said.
The director of DRSU-Don suggested that the solution to the problem could be the expansion of the main streets of Rostov – Sholokhova, Stachka, Nagibin, Malinovsky, Voroshilovsky Prospekt and several more.
— 80 percent of the townspeople travel along them. There is room to expand there. Designers should think and discuss,” said Oleg Kulik.
The director of the road construction company also called for expanding the “road parking space” and increasing the collection of parking fees. According to his assumption, paid parking can pay for itself and bring profit to the city.
