Three days ago, three water routes should begin operating in St. Petersburg. As DP was informed by the Transport Committee, a total of 25 applications from five carriers were submitted this year. Mainly for walks and excursions.

A regular city line between Obukhovskaya Oborony Ave. and the pier near the Hermitage (carrier Vodokhod) should be launched on April 28. There are two flights (morning and evening) lasting 90 minutes and two stops – on Sinopskaya embankment. and at the Finland Station. Last year there was only one stop (at Sinopskaya), but the travel time was only 50 minutes.
On May 1, a ferry crossing between the 2nd Elagin Bridge and Piterland (carrier Astra Marine) should open. Travel time is 15 minutes. And from May 16, another ferry service of the same carrier will operate – between Mytninskaya and Admiralteyskaya embankments. (7 minutes on the way). Transportation is not subsidized; the companies offered the routes themselves.
“I don’t know how these particular routes were chosen and what function was included in them. So far, I don’t really understand who might be interested in them en masse,” a transport engineer and author of the telegram channel “Fairytale Designer” noted in a comment to DP. Ivan Vergazov.
In his opinion, in order for the aquabus to become part of the transport system, it is necessary to look at where there is a lack of public transport. For example, it is not on the Fontanka. It is difficult to get to Piskarevsky Prospekt during rush hours. “This is all a matter of specific solutions – speed, convenience, integration with ground transport. There is none of this,” Vergazov added.
