On April 26, 1986, an accident occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Since then, the word “Chernobyl” has become synonymous with unprecedented courage and heroism.
In the Bryansk region, throughout the country and around the world, the International Day of Remembrance of the Chernobyl Disaster is celebrated on this day. It was proclaimed by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on December 8, 2016. In 2012, a memorable date was established in Russia: April 26 – the Day of Participants in the Liquidation of the Consequences of Radiation Accidents and Disasters and the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of These Accidents and Disasters.
Several events are planned in the region. A Ritual of Memory dedicated to the Day of Victims of Radiation Accidents and Disasters and the 38th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident will be held in Bryansk. Because of this, on April 25 and 26, a special organization of traffic in the Sovetsky district is being introduced.
