On this day, the memory of the martyr Thomaida of Egypt is celebrated, who gave her life for the faith in 476. This saint is supposed to pray out of lustful passion. The reason for this custom was the story about the life of Thomaida and the miracles that happened at her tomb.
On Thomaida, people went into the forest to collect lungwort, which they used to brew teas and prepare salads. Surprisingly, people believed that bees could fly seven miles around this fragrant flower.
According to legend, God once gave a bee the task of finding out which flowers produce the most honey. The bee flew around the whole earth, and most of all she liked lungwort, bird cherry and woodpecker. But she was afraid that God would take these flowers away from her, so she hid her opinion about them. However, God found out about this, became angry and forbade the bee to collect honey from three honey plants. Since then, the bee, fearing punishment, has avoided the lungwort.
In Rus’, it was customary for the most experienced housewife in the house to take care of the lungwort. And so that the bear, who was credited with dislike for the weaker sex, would not recognize her as a woman, she wore a sheepskin coat with the fur turned outward.
Also on this day it was possible to pick the first shoots of sorrel, which were placed in salads and cabbage soup. Monastic cabbage soup, which in addition to sorrel included parsley, onions, potatoes and butter, was especially tasty in the spring.

“Agit train “Voronezh route”
Today, April 26, at the site of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after. I.N. Kramskoy will open a unique exhibition “Agitation train “Voronezh route”.

Today, April 26, with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Voronezh Region, the VrnCTF-2024 sports programming and computer security competition will be held at the Faculty of Computer Science of Voronezh State University.

– students of educational institutions of the secondary vocational education system (technical schools, lyceums, colleges), students and cadets of educational institutions of the higher education system up to 25 years old (inclusive) at the time of the competition.
