The holiday season starts in Russia in May. Citizens who have taken leave will flock to rest and travel throughout the country.
It is expected that in 2024 the flow of tourists will increase by 8%. By 2030, it should double to 140 million trips – this is the task Russian President Vladimir Putin set for the government.
The prospects for the development of the resort business were assessed by the rector of the Russian International Academy of Tourism, Evgeny Trofimov.
“This year, the Krasnodar Territory, in terms of financial indicators, will apparently come out on top. The demand for the resort is great. At a recent meeting with the president on the development of seaside resorts, they discussed the creation of 10 more resort clusters in the country,” Trofimov said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
According to him, one of the new resorts will soon appear on the Caspian Sea in Dagestan.
“Back in Soviet times, I was involved in Dagestan, the coast of the Caspian Sea, there are beautiful places there. If sanatoriums and hotels are opened there along six kilometers along the seashore, the entire North Caucasus will come and of course there will be tourists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Central Russia,” the expert emphasized.
Trofimov suggested that the increase in demand for holidays within Russia will affect the cost of accommodation and services.
“In the regions, of course, we must have completely different prices for the salaries that people receive there. You need to monitor this very carefully. And it is worth building not only magnificent five-star hotels, but also simpler accommodation facilities, so that local residents can also relax. Of course, before there was a different perception of tourism – we arrived by hitchhiking, set up a tent. Now there should also be as many car hotels and campsites along the way as possible,” says the rector of the Russian International Academy of Tourism.
The expert noted that it is quite possible to achieve the goal set by the president of 140 million visits per year. To do this, it is worth creating places for recreation not only in resort areas, but also in other constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
“In every subject of the Federation we have wonderful places for recreation, excellent points of attraction. One example. I was in the Altai Territory in winter at the invitation of the governor. And so we passed by some village, and there was a hill, there were tons of people. I ask what is this? And there they just made a free lift and that’s it, you know, it’s just a lift, and so people get up and ride on rubber cheesecakes,” Trofimov said.
He cited data that the Altai Territory is visited by about two million tourists a year.
“So they were able to achieve this, create resorts and attract people. There are places associated with skiing and winter recreation. And in the summer, if we look carefully, tourists can rest for only two or three months. But they even made lakes not far from Katun, where you can swim in the summer,” summed up Evgeniy Trofimov.
