In the Central Federal District, Tula, Lipetsk and Kostroma became the leaders in birth rates

In terms of the total fertility rate among the regions of the Central Federal District, the leaders at the end of 2023 were Tula, Lipetsk and Kostroma. This was reported by Novosti Lipetsk with reference to the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Russia Olga Batalina.

According to her, if in the country as a whole the birth rate decreased by 0.4% over the year, then in the district it increased by 0.2%.

– Let it be 0.2% – what is important here is not the value, but the fact that we are changing the situation in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation step by step. And it’s nice to name the leaders of demographic growth, I’m now talking about the total fertility rate in the Central Federal District, these are Tula (+3%), Lipetsk (+2.5%), Kostroma (+1.9%), – Batalina noted.

She emphasized the difference between these regions in terms of budgetary provision and population structure, which indicates that there are no regions in which “it would be impossible to find solutions” to improve the situation with the birth rate.
