The State Duma of the Russian Federation recommended travel destinations for the May holidays

During the May holidays, Russians should go to Kaliningrad or the Caucasus. The head of the Russian State Duma Committee on Tourism, Sangadzhi Tarbaev, told RIA Novosti.

“May is considered the beginning of the summer season at Russian seaside resorts, often celebrated with a special opening ceremony. Many compatriots manage to open the swimming season during the May holidays. I don’t think that the sea coast needs any special advertising; our tourists will go there anyway. Let me just remind you that Kaliningrad these days celebrates the 300th anniversary of the birth of the “great Russian philosopher” Immanuel Kant and in this regard offers guests special programs both within the city limits and in coastal towns. A great option for a holiday during the May holidays!” — the deputy commented.

The parliamentarian emphasized that the Caucasus – Kavminvody, Vladikavkaz, Arkhyz, Dombay and many other resorts – is a separate destination that is popular both because of the sanitary resort component and in itself.

“In May, there is still snow on the tops of the mountains, and below there is comfortable and pleasant weather for walking along various eco-routes. Mountains, waterfalls, outdoor recreation – all this helps to reboot the body after a long winter,” added Tarbaev.

Experts predicted an increase in tourist flow to the Kaliningrad region by 15% in 2024.
