On Thursday, April 25, 2024, the SDG hosted a series of strategic sessions dedicated to residential and public spaces, tourism and transport infrastructure. Experts presented projects for the development of the Murmansk agglomeration.

Let us remind you that the Murmansk agglomeration includes Murmansk, the closed administrative unit of Severomorsk and the Kola region.

The main speakers were representatives of the consortium of development companies “New Land”, “Cardfond” and “Urbanika!.

“One of the important points that residents noted in sociological surveys is the connection between the city and nature. We are talking about hills, lakes and a bay, around which, in our concepts, spaces for living, recreation, sports and tourism are formed. In accordance with this, we have developed an integrated approach that unites all public spaces into a single system. So, if we talk about housing, we identified areas on which neighborhoods will be created according to new standards with adjacent public spaces. This also applies to individual housing construction – the “heart” of such. territories should also become socio-cultural objects,” said Ivan Kuryachy, managing partner of the design and consulting company Novaya Zemlya.

He also noted that the range of measures includes major renovations of houses to improve energy efficiency, renovation of entrances and courtyards with the creation of public spaces.

“From the point of view of transport infrastructure, this is the formation of a policy that will allow the city, despite the increase in cars, to continue to “drive” as it does now. On the other hand, we are developing a more systematic approach to parking spaces, the development of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure,” explained Victoria Vasilevskaya, managing partner of the Urbanika Institute of Territorial Planning.

Today, April 26, another strategic session dedicated to the scientific and educational ecosystem will be held at the Regional Management Center.
