Over three years, Beeline has increased the length of urban fiber-optic communication lines (FOCL) in the Amur Region by 32%. Through them, customer traffic is transmitted in the form of light pulses – the fastest way to transmit information over any distance. These lines have made the connection between 4G network base stations, which customers use for high-speed Internet access, even more reliable. At the beginning of 2024, the total length of city and regional fiber optic lines in the Amur region is more than 750 kilometers.

Fiber-optic lines consist of transparent fibers, and videos, photographs, audio messages and other customer content are converted into light pulses during transmission along these highways. This method of transportation increases the speed of downloading and uploading information to the network, and is also highly reliable and resistant to interference. It is not affected by weather conditions and buildings and structures do not appear in the path of the signal, as happens if it is transmitted through the air as a radio signal.

The bandwidth in these transparent Internet backbones is significantly higher than other methods of connecting base stations. In urban networks, channels of tens and hundreds of gigabits per second are used; between cities, speeds can be calculated in terabits, and records in the speed of information transmission over fiber-optic lines have already exceeded 1 petabit per second.

The ability to simultaneously transmit such a large volume of Internet content helps to make more efficient use of base stations, including those that have been built in recent years.

The development of the network in the context of constant traffic growth contributes to both increased customer comfort and increased security. Thanks to this, you can stay in touch with loved ones using the most modern methods, as well as use online consultations from various specialists, have access to the necessary Internet services on the road, in remote settlements and important social facilities.

Beeline pays special attention to the development of cellular communication infrastructure, which increases the reliability of the network. In solving this problem, in addition to the development of fiber-optic communication lines, a set of technologies that Beeline calls a “smart network” helps. Thanks to it, the mobile Internet works faster, the network automatically adjusts parameters to current circumstances, and various incidents on the network are predicted in advance and the factors that could lead to them are eliminated before they occur. Read more about this here.

The quality of services depends on various factors. Beeline’s “smart network” is a set of solutions aimed at analyzing, forecasting and redistributing the load on the network in order to improve the quality of communication.
