Residents of the Murmansk region will be able to venerate a copy of the miraculous icon of Emperor Nicholas II, who arrived in the Arctic today.
“On April 26, a list of the miraculous Cossack penitential icon of the Sovereign Emperor Nicholas II, which has traveled more than 30 thousand kilometers along the borders, as well as a small image of the Sovereign Emperor Nicholas II will remain in the Church of the Savior on the Waters,” the Murmansk diocese reported.
On April 27, the icons will be brought to the service at the Church of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church in the city of Apatity. The Divine Liturgy will be led by Metropolitan Mitrofan of Murmansk and Monchegorsk.
“After their stay in the Murmansk diocese, the icons will go to Pskov, Belarus, and then to the front line,” the diocese noted.
They explained that the original icon was painted with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra for a penitential religious procession. The icon traveled a total of more than 500 thousand kilometers along the borders of Russia, and also visited Ukraine, Serbia, Greece, the Holy Land, and Abkhazia.
