The causative agents of two diseases were found in the examined specimens of arthropods.

By April 25, 266 people, including 75 children, applied to medical institutions for help with tick bites in the Tambov region. The number of people bitten is 1.4 times less than at the end of April last year – then 387 complaints were registered.

More than 50% of bite cases occurred in the territories of private houses and courtyards. In 23% of cases, ticks clung to victims in the wild (forests, meadows, near water bodies). 5.3% of bites occurred among summer residents, 3.4% within populated areas, and 6.8% in churchyards.

Let us add that at the regional Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, specialists are conducting a rapid study of ticks removed from people and caught in natural biotopes. This year we were able to examine 148 ticks taken from people. 17 parasites (11% of cases) were infected with diseases dangerous to humans. Thus, 14 ticks carried Lyme disease and 3 bloodsuckers carried human granulocytic anaplasmosis.

All victims were provided with timely medical care and prevention.

The best way to combat parasites is considered to be acaricidal treatment of areas. Let us remind you that in Tambov, green areas of the city began to be processed in mid-April. At the moment, an area of 101.7 hectares has already been cultivated.
